Paulina and her younger brother were left in the care of their grandmother, after their parents fled from Czechoslovakia.A multi-million dollar contract with Estée Lauder and a Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition cover cemented her as a model, while her co-starring role in 1989's Her Alibi gave her recognititon as an actress. She is also married to the original ugly man himself, Ric Ocasek from the rock band The Cars. She may have been more popular in the 1980s, but this Czech model has a timeless look that explains why the supermodel phenomenon started while she was popular. Paulina Porizkova was the first in the wave of beautiful Czech models that left the old continent for fame & fortune abroad. Like fellow bombshells Daniela Pestova and Adriana Sklenarikova, Paulina was discovered by chance and soon graced the covers of the world's most prestigious magazines.
