Ever since she released her first album in 1993, Liz Phair has been at the forefront of the independent feminist alternative rock movement. The critics love her, the fans love her, and she has since released three more records. She's not about to break sales records, but in the music industry she's a virtual goddess. Liz Phair came out of the underground rock movement just as it was gaining momentum and was therefore able to write the kind of music the world was waiting for. Her sound has nothing to do with the teenyboppers du jour and we're very grateful for that. Angry feminist guitar riffs beat sugar-coated bubblegum pop any day.
