Stewart's romantic life has been the subject of many press and television tabloids. It is rumoured Steward dated Jack Osbourne (son of Ozzy Osbourne) and, Scott (James Caan's son), among others. On 16 November 2005, Stewart announced her engagement to Laguna Beach's Talan Torreiro, only to announce on the 27th of November the engagement was off. During 2005, there were rumors that she would replace Nicole Richie and join Paris Hilton in the American reality show The Simple Life 4; however, it was later announced that Richie would be returning.
