Born in Port Perry, Ontario, the Canadian ice hockey fan and dog lover was named one of E! Online’s “Sizzlin’ 16s,” at the tender age of 17. Her first roles were as young Jackie Bouvier, age 13 on “Jackie Bouvier Kennedy Onassis” with Joanne Whaley, Tim Matheson and Andrew McCarthy (CBS, 2000) and in a three-part episode of “Are You Afraid of the Dark?” (Nickelodeon, 2000) with Elisha Cuthbert. She then scored a role in “Lost and Delirious,” about life at a private girls’ school (2001) with Mischa Barton.

VanCamp made appearances on the television series “Radio Active,” “All Souls” and “Dice” before heading back to film. In 2002, she made the telepic “The Redeemer” (USA) with Matthew Modine and “The House on Turk Street” with Samuel L. Jackson and Milla Jovovich before being tapped for her break-out role as Ephram’s striking flame on “Everwood” (WB, 2002 - ).

In her “Everwood” role as Amy Abbott, VanCamp’s honest portrayal of teenage confusion, first love and fearless ambition made her performances highly memorable. VanCamp’s realistic Amy showed a young vulnerability often lost by teenage stars. VanCamp’s resonance with her peer audience was evident when, although “Everwood was not the most highly rated series on television, the dedicated young audience launched profusion of web sites devoted to the actress—many with active members from dozens of countries—where her fans comment on her performances, upload images from recent magazine spreads, or anything they can access from her recent appearances.

Her first big movie break was in horror sequel, “The Ring Two” (2005) starring Naomi Watts, where she played a teen with boyfriend who insists that she view the film’s notorious videotape.
