For those new to the site, my philosophy on exactly what constitutes 'high quality' is found here. Be sure to check out all three picture galleries to your left. Dido is partly of French descent. Her mother, Claire, is a French poet and her father is British book publisher William Armstrong. At the age of six, she attended the Guildhall School of Music in London, England. By the time she reached her teens she had already mastered piano, violin, and recorder. She is perhaps best known for her 2001 hit song "Thank You", which was used by the rapper Eminem as the basis for one of his own hit singles, "Stan". (Dido also appears in the song's video, portraying Stan's long-suffering girlfriend.) "Thank You" was appeared at first in the soundtrack of the movie Sliding Doors (back in 1998) and then was a part of her album No Angel, which was the top-selling album of 2001 in the United Kingdom. She has a brother, Rollo Armstrong, with whom she often collaborates. He formed the dance group Faithless, and she had a #6 single in 2002 when featured on their single, "One Step Too Far". Dido also sings with Faithless on tracks Dub Be Good To Me, Flowerstand Man, Hem Of His Garment, River, Run Me Dry, Salva mea, Postcards, Reverence and No Roots Her second album, Life For Rent, was released September 30, 2003. Her song "Here With Me" was used as the theme music for the television programme Roswell and in the soundtrack for the movie Love Actually. Named after the Greek mythological character, Dido was educated at Thornhill Primary, City of London Girls', and Westminster Schools. She performed at three of the Live 8 concerts (in London, Paris and at the Eden Project in Cornwall) on 2 July 2005, with Youssou N'Dour.
